Gloomy Day Makes

While I'm waiting for the rain to go away and the sun to come out, I have had some fun making African Violet pincushions.

These are a really inexpensive craft to do; requiring only felt, embroidery floss, poly. batting and clay saucers. I would say it cost less than five dollars to make all four.  They are approx. two and a half inches in diameter, so a nice size to keep by the sewing machine or your stitching arm chair.  The clay saucer keeps them weighted down nicely too.

I also made a pin-cushion for a different kind of pin:

My small collection of china posy brooches now have a new home in a vintage silver plate sugar bowl. I gathered a circle of dark green velvet and stuffed it with fiberfill.  Then I stuffed the whole thing into the sugar bowl, and I didn't even have to use any glue.  The bowl is part of a set that includes a creamer and tray to sit on, and was a wedding gift for my parents almost 50 years ago.  One handle of the creamer is coming off, and the copper is starting to show through on the tray, so this was the only good piece left.  It's nice to know part of the set is actually being used; and visible everyday.

I hope the sun is finding you: thanks for visiting!

Jenn
